Montreal Insectarium

The Montreal Insectarium is the largest insectarium in North America and one of the largest in the world. It has a large collection of insects, both dead and alive.
We spent some time there during our last visit.

Montreal Biodome

The Montreal Biodome is located in the old velodrome where the cycling events took place during the 1976 Olympic Games. Visitors can walk through a replica of four ecosystems with the appropriate climates and animals.

Butterflies Go Free

During our visit to the Montreal Botanical Gardens, we had the opportunity to visit the butterfly exhibition called, Butterflies Go Free, in one of the greenhouses. It was exciting to see butterflies of different shapes, sizes, and colors flying freely. Some would even land on people, and we found out that they are quite attracted to bright colors, such as yellow.

Montreal Botanical Gardens

Visited the Montreal Botanical Gardens last weekend (3/31/07) with my family. It was a very nice experience, educational, and relaxing. We hope to visit the Gardens again later in the summer. More pictures on Flickr.

The Jardin botanique de Montréal or Montreal Botanical Garden is a large botanical garden in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is second in size only to Kew Gardens, London.
They occupy a large park near Montreal's Olympic Stadium. They contain a greenhouse complex full of plants from around the world, and a number of large outdoor gardens, each with a specific theme. It is the largest Chinese garden in the world outside China.

Holi Rangoli

I recently came to know about the Indian Students Association (ISA) at UVM. Someone told me about a party to celebrate Holi (The Hindu Festival of Colors) and I decided to attend. This party was held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Billings Student Center.

I wasn't very impressed with this event for several reasons. As always, people arrived very late. This is typical of the East Indian culture but somehow it's still tolerated. Also, it wasn't well attended, and wasn't planned and organized to be successful event. You can take an Indian out of India but you can't take India out of an Indian. I Thank my lucky stars that I'm an Indian from Malaysia, so there is no India to take out of me!

On another note, I felt quite awkward at the party. I didn't seem to fit in with this group. I may be too Americanized for them. The funny thing is that, I'm too white to be with the Indians, and too brown to be with the Whites! Go figure!

Mud Season

As everyone knows, we are a little special here in Vermont. We have five seasons instead of four: Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring, and Mud!
And as you guessed it, it's Mud season now! The first three pictures are of my driveway. I need to get a few loads of driveway mix dropped off so, I can get my driveway repaired this summer. It's gonna be a tough job due to the lenght of my driveway and the current state it's in.
